Agreement to Terms

By accessing our website, requesting a quote, or engaging the services of Ellis Moving & Storage, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before using our services. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our website or engage our services.

Ellis Moving & Storage reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of our website or services following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

Our Services

Ellis Moving & Storage provides professional moving and storage services in the Greater Vancouver area and beyond, including but not limited to residential moving, commercial moving, long-distance moving, apartment moving, packing services, white glove moving, piano moving, hot tub moving, large item moving, and storage solutions.

All services are subject to availability and are provided in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and any additional terms outlined in your moving contract or service agreement.

Quotes and Estimates

All quotes and estimates provided by Ellis Moving & Storage are based on the information supplied by the client at the time of the request. Quotes are subject to change if the scope of the move, the volume of items, the access conditions, or any other relevant details differ materially from those provided at the time of the estimate.

Final pricing will be confirmed prior to the commencement of your move. Ellis Moving & Storage is committed to transparent and honest pricing, and all costs will be clearly communicated to you before your move begins. We do not charge hidden fees or last-minute add-ons.

Booking and Confirmation

A move is considered confirmed only upon receipt of a signed moving contract or written confirmation from Ellis Moving & Storage. We recommend booking your move as early as possible to secure your preferred moving date, as availability is subject to change.

Ellis Moving & Storage reserves the right to decline or cancel a booking at its discretion, in which case any deposit paid will be refunded in full.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

We understand that circumstances can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule your move, please notify us as soon as possible.

Cancellations and rescheduling requests are subject to the following conditions:

Cancellations made with sufficient advance notice – Where a client provides adequate notice of cancellation in accordance with the terms of their moving contract, any applicable deposit may be refunded in whole or in part as outlined in the contract.

Cancellations made with insufficient notice – Where a client cancels a confirmed move without sufficient advance notice, Ellis Moving & Storage reserves the right to retain all or part of any deposit paid to cover costs incurred in preparation for the move.

Rescheduling – Rescheduling requests are subject to availability. Ellis Moving & Storage will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your preferred new moving date, but cannot guarantee availability.

Specific cancellation and rescheduling terms will be outlined in your individual moving contract.

Client Responsibilities

To ensure a smooth and efficient move, clients are responsible for the following:

Accurate Information – Providing accurate and complete information about the scope of your move, including the volume of items, the access conditions at both your current and new property, and any items that require special handling or equipment.

Preparation – Ensuring that all items to be moved are adequately prepared and ready for transport on the agreed moving date, unless packing services have been arranged with Ellis Moving & Storage.

Access – Ensuring that our team has safe and unobstructed access to both your current and new property on moving day, including any necessary parking permits, elevator bookings, or building access arrangements.

Hazardous Materials – Ensuring that no hazardous, illegal, or prohibited items are included among the belongings to be moved. Ellis Moving & Storage reserves the right to refuse to move any item that is deemed hazardous or prohibited.

Valuables and Important Documents – We strongly recommend that clients personally transport all irreplaceable documents, jewelry, cash, and other high-value items rather than including them in the move.

Items We Are Unable to Move

For the safety of our team and the protection of your belongings, Ellis Moving & Storage is unable to move the following items:

• Hazardous materials including flammable, explosive, toxic, or corrosive substances
• Firearms, ammunition, and weapons
• Illegal substances or contraband
• Perishable food items
• Live plants and animals
• Irreplaceable documents, cash, and jewelry — these items should be transported personally by the client
• Any items prohibited by applicable law or regulation

Ellis Moving & Storage reserves the right to refuse to move any item at its sole discretion where there is a concern for the safety of our team, our equipment, or other belongings being moved.

Liability and Claims

Ellis Moving & Storage takes every precaution to ensure your belongings are handled with care throughout the moving process. However, in the unlikely event that an item is damaged or lost during your move, the following terms apply:

Declared Value Coverage – Unless otherwise arranged prior to the move, Ellis Moving & Storage’s liability for loss or damage to items is limited to the declared value coverage outlined in your moving contract.

Claims Process – Any claims for loss or damage must be reported to Ellis Moving & Storage in writing within the timeframe specified in your moving contract. Claims submitted outside of this timeframe may not be accepted.

Client-Packed Items – Ellis Moving & Storage accepts limited liability for items that have been packed by the client rather than by our professional packing team. We strongly recommend using our professional packing services to ensure the best possible protection for your belongings.

High-Value Items – Clients are encouraged to arrange appropriate insurance coverage for high-value items prior to their move. Ellis Moving & Storage recommends discussing the coverage of specific high-value items with our team prior to moving day.

Payment Terms

Payment for Ellis Moving & Storage services is subject to the following terms:

Deposit – A deposit may be required at the time of booking to secure your moving date. The deposit amount and terms will be outlined in your moving contract.

Final Payment – Final payment is due upon completion of your move unless otherwise agreed in writing. Ellis Moving & Storage accepts payment by the methods outlined in your moving contract.

Late Payment – Ellis Moving & Storage reserves the right to charge interest on any outstanding balances not paid within the agreed payment period.

Disputed Charges – Any disputed charges must be raised with Ellis Moving & Storage in writing within seven days of the completion of your move.

Storage Services

Where storage services are provided by Ellis Moving & Storage, the following additional terms apply:

Stored items are held at our secure 20,000 square foot palletized storage facility located in Vancouver, British Columbia. Access to stored items is subject to reasonable advance notice and the terms of your storage agreement.

Storage fees are charged in accordance with the rates outlined in your storage agreement. Ellis Moving & Storage reserves the right to place a lien on stored goods in the event of non-payment of storage fees, in accordance with applicable legislation.

Clients are responsible for ensuring that all items placed in storage are adequately insured. Ellis Moving & Storage recommends arranging appropriate insurance coverage for all stored belongings.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Ellis Moving & Storage shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or in connection with the provision of our services or the use of our website, even if Ellis Moving & Storage has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Ellis Moving & Storage’s total liability to any client in connection with the provision of our services shall not exceed the total amount paid by the client for the specific services giving rise to the claim.

Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.

Website Use

The content on the Ellis Moving & Storage website is provided for general informational purposes only. While we make every effort to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the information on our website, we make no warranties or representations of any kind regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of any content on our website.
